Walt Disney World is back in the real estate business, this time with a series of high end, luxury homes in a gated community priced from $1.5 million to --- gulp -- $8 million. The homes will be in Orlando, within the 40 square miles of Disney's thriving theme parks. Radio Disney to Air Scripted Serial

June 29, 2010 |14:15 | Disneyland  By : Team X

Disney is going retro. Starting Monday, its kid-targeted Radio Disney network will air a scripted serial called "My Dream," a contemporary story on a format reminiscent of the 1940s, before TV was pervasive. Unlike Depression-era radio serials that typically featured episodes lasting 30 minutes, episodes of "My Dream" will last just 90 seconds each. "Bite-size chunks," as Radio Disney GM Michael Riley put it.

An original episode will debut each day, five days a week, for a month. Each episode will air four times on Radio Disney. "My Dream" stars 13-year-old Daphne Blunt as Kayla, a teenager trying to make a name for herself in the music industry while dealing with the usual struggles, responsibilities.

And emotional ups and downs of an everyday teen. Blunt's credits include stints on "The Young and the Restless" and "Big Time Rush."Disney said it hasn't lined up a sponsor for the show. "We really wanted to capitalize on what makes radio ," Riley said. "It's a back-to-the-future concept."

Disneyland for adults

June 21, 2010 |13:09 | Disneyland  By : Team X

It used to be that Las Vegas was Disneyland for adults. But on a second look, Disneyland — located in Anaheim, about 30 miles south of Los Angeles  has really begun to cater to adults. The theme park — which is made up of Disneyland and California Adventure  also features a sophisticated, pedestrian-friendly retail and dining district; luxury accommodations and a Balinese spa; award-winning restaurants; lounges and bars; and opening this month, a new light show called “World of Color” that is on par with the fountain show at the Bellagio.

WHERE TO STAY Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa — the only AAA Four-Diamond hotel in North Orange County  is a beautiful, expertly run hotel with a theme and architectural style reminiscent of the California Arts & Crafts era at the turn of the 20th century. Located in the center of the Disneyland Resort and in easy walking distance to both theme parks, the hotel offers the best accommodations and amenities at Disneyland.

Disneyland to Offer Sign Language Interpreters

June 19, 2010 |12:52 | Disneyland  By : Team X

The Disneyland Resort announced today that it will install sign language interpreters to its various dialog-based attractions at its two theme parks, Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure. While American Sign Language communicators have always been available to park guests, this often had to be arranged by calling ahead. Now, guests can enjoy many attractions that were otherwise inaccessible to their fullest potential without having to make prior arrangements.

Guests visiting the parks may stop by City Hall at Disneyland or Guests Relations at Disney’s California Adventure for information on the ASL interpreters. To begin with, eight interpreters will be available on Monday and Saturday at Disneyland and on Friday and Sunday at Disney’s California Adventure.

The interpretation will be offered for those attractions where dialog is the primary means of communication; this includes Jungle Cruise and Storybook Land Canal Boats at Disneyland and Turtle Talk with Crush and “Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” at Disney’s California Adventure. The offer will also extend to the parks’ parades, including “Celebrate – A Street Party” and “High School Musical 3: Senior Year”.

Just a couple hours after Disney’s new “World of Color” show premiered at the Disney California Adventure theme park on June 10, 2010, I spoke with Walt Disney Imagineer Kevin Eld about the show. Eld told me how the show’s concept was initially pitched, a few details about how it’s produced each night, and what’s in store for “World of Color” in the months and years to come:“World of Color” is now officially open, performing nightly at the Disney California Adventure theme park in Paradise Bay. But if you can’t make it to see the show in person any time soon, you can watch our video of it in its entirety. (Though, I’ll admit that neither this nor any other video of the show can truly do it justice.)
