Disneyland is starting a series of weekend entertainment during the slower spring season, starting with a fiesta theme Friday. Disney listed Tuesday the themes of the new Family Fun Weekends, which run through March 6, on the Disney Parks blog. The features are an alternative activity while Disneyland’s parade is on a break. A Christmas Fantasy parade ended Jan. 3, but Disneyland is still preparing for the new Mickey’s Soundsational Parade due later this spring.

“We are hoping that people interested in the various areas will join in,” said John McClintock, a Disneyland Resort spokesman. The Fiesta Disneyland, which runs Friday through Sunday, includes Mariachi Divas and ballet folklorico performances, merchandise, food and photo locations with dressed-up characters, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse in folklorico attire. A street party with Disney characters will run six times daily, McClintock said. The fiesta runs in the Festival Arena in the back of Frontierland.

Other themes are: Disney’s Kickin’ Country Weekend in the Festival Arena, Jan. 21 to 23, in the Festival Arena. Character Fan Days, Jan. 28 to 30, in the Festival Arena. Fans voted for their favorite characters, who will greet guests during the fan days. On Wednesday, Disney plans to announce the characters on the Disney Parks blog.
