BURLY blokes from Burnley limbered up and pulled a truck to help make a poorly toddler’s life a little easier. Regulars at the Gannow Wharf pub pulled the truck for two miles to raise money for Jaime Ella Howarth (3) who is suffering from an inoperable brain tumour. Mum Terri wants to treat her brave daughter to a dream holiday to Disneyland but has had to give up her job to look after her. They were there to cheer on the regulars.

Sixteen brave souls pulled the truck from the pub down Gannow Lane, Lowerhouse Lane, Kiddrow Lane, Sycamore Avenue and back again in just under an hour. Paul White organised the all-day event which also included activities for children and entertainment at night. He said: “Jaime Ella goes to Ightenhill Nursery with my son and so I thought it would be nice to help her out in this way.

“The weather was really nice on the day, but for once I’d have preferred a bit of a breeze! There were some thirsty people after we’d finished so I’m glad we got it back to the pub. I’d like to thank all the individuals and businesses who supported us on the day for someone who is a very worthy cause.”
