The Walt Disney World Resort has unveiled a brand new Star Wars attraction, giving fans of the epic sci-fi franchise the chance to immerse themselves in the Star Wars universe.
Star Tours – The Adventure Continues combines digital 3D video projections, live action simulators and a musical soundtrack, giving visitors the full Star Wars experience. The Star Tours attraction can provide over 50 different story combinations, taking visitors through a range of environments from the six films, including the jungles of Kashyyyk, the ice planet of Hoth and the underwater kingdom on the planet Naboo.
Star Wars fans will also get the chance to meet all their favourite characters from the movies, including Boba Fett, Yoda and of course, Darth Vader himself. Chief executive at Walt Disney, Bob Iger, said that the new feature provided a unique way of the experiencing Star Wars:
"Star Tours immerses guests into the Star Wars universe like never before. The innovative technology and storytelling take guests on thrilling new adventures, bringing George Lucas' iconic characters and locations to life in a completely new way."
Mr Iger joined Star Wars creator George Lucas, along with a legion of stormtroopers, for a ceremony to mark the opening of new attraction at the park. Lucas' companies Lucasfilm and Industrial Light and Magic worked closely with the team at Walt Disney Imagineering to create the new Star Tours installation.
Star Tours – The Adventure Continues will also soon be available to visitors to the Disneyland Resort in California. The attraction will open there on June 3, giving easy access to the Star Wars attraction to families planning USA holidays via cheap flights to LA.
