Avalon High, Disney Channel's Next Original Movie, In Production Now!

Avalon High, the next Disney Channel Original Movie, has started production in New Zealand and it stars Britt Robertson and Gregg Sulkin.

American viewers know Robertson best for her role as Lux on Life Unexpected, while Sulkin has guest starred as Mason Greybeck on a couple of episodes of Wizards Of Waverly Place and is recognized back home in England for his appearances on Disney Channel UK's version of As The Bell Rings.

So what is Avalon High about?  Well, we've got the scoop.  It's based on the novel by Meg Cabot and it follows the adventures of Allie Pennington (Robertson), the new girl at Avalon High, who quickly comes to believe that her classmates are reincarnations of King Arthur and his court.

In other words, Avalon High just may be a contemporary Camelot, with the hunky quarterback Will (Sulkin), his girlfriend Jen (Molly Quinn), their best friend Lance (Christopher Tavarez), Will's brooding half-brother Marco (Devon Graye), a slightly strange kid named Miles (Joey Pollari), and several football players all resembling characters that Allie is writing about in her term paper on King Arthur's legacy.

Stuart Gillard, the director, is a veteran of fantasies, drama, comedy, and Disney Channel movies, as he counts among his credits Twitches (2005), Twitches Too (2007), One Tree Hill and Hatching Pete (2009).  Avalon High will premiere in the fall.
